USA 2018 Day 7 – Sugar Pine Railroad and return to Pleasanton

Last day in Yosemite and a visit to the Sugar Pines Mountain Railroad.  A restored narrow-gauge railway used in the tree logging industry between 1898 and the early 1930’s with authentic steam engines. It was quite surprising what a bit of steam, whistles and a visit to the driver’s cab could do for the 2 women in the party, cheesy grins abounded. Only moaning as Ed and I didn’t get in the engineer’s cab! It was a terrific hour’s journey through the forest with a water refill and a fair amount of opportunity for photo’s.

We then spent the rest of the day travelling back to Pleasanton experiencing the slight madness of some American driving, and out in the evening with Fred and Diane to the local pub, The Hopyard Inn. This visit was not, as it transpired, our last.
