It started so well! Taxi arrived on time, passengers and luggage fitted in and the price was reasonable. Actually, an account on line was very easy and saved cash hassle at drop off. Ed, Sabine, Linda and I were all starting to get a little excited by now and chatting over a Jamie Oliver breakfast was always going to settle things down.
However, waiting to board it became evident that the 787 Dreamliner had some engineers examining its nose, taking photos, measurements and opening it up for an internal inspection. This did not look good! To cut a long story short, dent in nose caused by bird resulted in a 4-hour delay whilst Boeing in the US declared the aircraft airworthy. Still Norwegian kept us informed and made sure we had a voucher to get some lunch.
After boarding, a little amusement with the Eddie and the difficult passenger incident during which the immortal words “Don’t piss me off” were issued by my normally calm brother, we got underway. The flight was comfortable and unremarkable, arriving in Oakland just under 4 hours late (thereby narrowly missing out on 600 Euro compensation each) where we were introduced to the lengthy welcome to America Homeland security arrangements, but hey all was good, we were here and were met by a very patient Fred and Diane. Big thank you to them both as the glass of red and sleep were very welcome!
Would recommend aaa2bcars.co.uk and norwegian.com
